DEI for the sake of DEI is a set back for all. This has been seen in many situations when the people hired strictly for DEI and not for credit became overwhelmed and in over their heads.
The intent behind DEI is great and honorable, maybe even noble but the practical reality of it has not been so. DEI is now what unqualified used to be, at least that is the connotation behind it. When much noise is made because people are hired based on their color, or what they represent rather than merit means that nothing good can come out of it.

There is still recourse to recover from DEI but it would require everyone keeping an open mind and not get offended at the slightest. Some of this DEI are all ma-made and people have become tired of all of it.
It is possible for the best and brightest to dominate where they need to, but making it mandatory based on DEI takes away the honor behind it. That and not the DEI itself are what people frown against. Let’s do it right. DEI for the right reasons.
